General Information for all USCG licensing courses

Instructors
All licensing courses are taught by USCG-approved instructors with extensive experience. Please see our instructor page for their bios.

General Licensing Requirements
We at AMA appreciate that the Coast Guard requirements are far from being easy to understand. That's why we're always more than willing to assist our students in any way possible when questions arise. Students will need to meet the Coast Guard's minimum physical standards, including being drug-free and having passed a physical exam. Please see our list of useful links to assist you in trying to decipher the USCG code! See each course description or call us for more information on licensing requirements.

Admission
Though we do not test for basic English and math skills, students are expected to possess those skills. Students will be required to bring an official photo ID on the first day of class.

Testing
As AMA is approved to conduct USCG testing on site, there is no need to make a special trip to Boston or elsewhere upon completion of any approved course. You can take the exam right here at our school.

Our Promise
American Maritime Academy is dedicated to providing the best education possible for our students. We promise never to become a "paper mill" that churns out USCG licenses to anyone willing to pay us. Instead, we pride ourselves on the fact that our students will walk away from our courses with a thorough knowledge of the subject matter, thus keeping our waters safe.
