This 5-day course provides mariners with the Radar Observer endorsement required by the USCG for certain licenses.
This course describes the basic theory and operation of a marine radar system, including the basic principles of radar, characteristics of radar sets and factors affecting their performance. The course also includes manual and simulator radar plotting designed to teach the principles of radar plotting, etc.
Upon completion of the course, students take a USCG-approved exam right here at AMA. A certificate of completion will be given if the student successfully passes the exam. The student can then submit that certificate as an endorsement to their license.
